I was charged nearly $400 to do an ignition repair an oven in a rental property. The job was done on a Friday. I received the invoice by email on Saturday with a follow up text message to let me know the invoice had been sent. I replied with a 'thank you for the letting me know' and advised '...I would pay the invoice as soon as I get confirmation from the tenant...' I thought this was fair enough as I didn't want to pay for the job before confirmation the job had been done. Clearly not. I proceeded to get a bunch of passive-aggressive texts harrassing me for payment based on '1 day tems' and letting me know 'businesses should not have to give you a line of credit'. I was pretty stunned by this. I assured him I would pay the invoice within 7 days and just needed a chance to confirm the job was done. I reminded him a flat fee for a one-off service is NOT a line of credit. Threatening text messages a few hours after you have sent an invoice on a weekend is really poor etiquette. The invoice said two visits on one job. So I was essentially charged for the quote. I also did not receive a certificate of electrical safety even though it states this on the invoice and is a legal requirement.
